Everything is faster in New York. The trends follow each other frenetically and the face of the city is constantly changing. This creative drive involves everything, even the places where people meet and share moments together: bars, restaurants, clubs, shopping malls. Today, we will take you on a short trip to the coolest places in the city that never sleeps to find out what the current trends are.

The rooftop bars

Among the many places in the Big Apple, the rooftops, the fashionable terraces of New York nightlife, stand out. Many rooftops are located on the top floor of the buildings that house the hotels and are usually only open during the summer. From the rooftops, you can admire the skyline in all its beauty and relax while sipping cocktails. Which are the coolest ones in town? You’ll be spoiled for choice but we have chosen some that, in our opinion, deserve a visit.

Let’s start from 230 Fifth, the most famous rooftop in New York. Unlike many other rooftops, this is also open in winter. If you decide to visit it in winter, you can have a drink in the iconic heated igloos! The view of the Empire State Building is breathtaking. If you are looking for a valid alternative, you can opt for the Sky Room, one of the most popular and also the highest rooftop bars: it is located on the 33rd and 34th floors of the building.

Among the most stylish venues there is certainly: The Press Lounge. The beautiful terrace with swimming pool is located in the Hell’s Kitchen neighbourhood and delights visitors with its elegance and style.

Shopping malls

Shopping in New York is a serious matter. In addition to the shops on Fifth Avenue, a real institution, on a trip to New York you must visit the most beautiful shopping malls. Ideally, you should visit them at Christmas time, when the decorations make the atmosphere magical.

Let’s start from the Westfield World Trade Center, the largest shopping mall in Manhattan. It is located in the World Trade Center complex and was inaugurated in 2016. The building, designed by the architect Santiago Calatrava, is certainly a masterpiece and has an unusual shape both outside and inside. The Westfield World Trade Center covers about 34,000 square metres and is certainly a must not only for design and architecture enthusiasts.

Macy’s is a real institution. It is located in Herald Square and is one of the most beautiful shopping malls you can find in New York. It is also impossible not to stop by Saks Fifth Avenue, the department store located on 5th Avenue in Manhattan. The shops are really elegant and offer an incredible shopping experience. You can also walk on a Santamargherita marble floor.

We let you guess on which floor it is located. If you decide to treat yourself to a day of shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue, you will find out!

Restaurants

We could not forget the restaurants. New York has a lot to offer also in terms of cuisine and the result becomes really interesting when it meets design. The Vandal is certainly worth mentioning, a place much loved by New Yorkers and is being appreciated for its slightly underground style.

Street art is the protagonist of the venue and dominates the large areas of the restaurant which is more like a club. At Vandal, the cuisine is international with typical street food dishes. La Sirena, the restaurant opened recently by Joe Bastianich, is a more elegant venue. The bright venue, furnished with attention to the smallest details, is located in the lively Chelsea neighbourhood of New York.

Baar Baar is an experience worth trying. The restaurant reinterprets Indian cuisine with a touch of style in the furnishings and at the table. This Indian gastro bar promises to amaze and excite its guests by rewriting the rules: all you have to do is book!
